Holiday parties

Sigh.....it's that time of year where companies host their annual holiday parties.  It's a shame that every year there is that one person (or sometimes two or more) that just completely loses their shit and gets so plastered on company sponsored drinking and makes an ass of themselves.

I always wonder what exactly goes through the mind of these folks when 2 free drink coupons turns into oh I don't know, 10+ additional drinks.  What happened to the higher brain function called judgment that is supposed to kick in and say gee, I'm going to have to see these folks come Monday so I better not.

Or what about "that" girl that shows up in what looks like hooker attire and proceeds to flirt with every single dude, including her boss!!!

Man on man....common sense....so many people lack it.  But then again, without these individuals it would be less interesting for those that get to observe it on a daily basis.  It's kinda like that you don't know what you got until it's gone thing, but in this case it's more like you don't know what you got until you see it not there in others when it should be before you realize how not so shitty your life is!

Revolving Sushi

I recently discovered revolving (or conveyor belt) sushi bars on a recent trip to San Francisco.  Now I know some people may bring up the issue of how fresh can the fish possibly be on these belts, but when you are paying two bucks a pop you can't exactly expect top shelf now can we?

Anyway....so these places generally offer the basic staple of sushi and some allow you to order things not usually placed on the rotating conveyor but you know what I like about these places?

It's similar to watching the dryer spin round and round.  There is something fascinating about watching things slowly move over and over.  Now, I am not autistic (to my knowledge), but there is something calming about these repetitive motions.

But, it's also exciting waiting for the next thing to drop on the line to see if you've had it or not.  I think the key is to sit relatively near to the chef station so you can eyeball what they are working on so you can grab it the minute they put it down.  But there is always a downside..... if you are sitting to the chef's left then you miss what he just put out because it moves in the opposite direction of where you are.  Don't you just hate it when that happens?
